The Tweed Coast is one of the prettiest destinations for a wedding, and Summergrove Estate would have to be a favourite. Our team is lucky enough to work at Summergrove Estate on a regular basis and it still takes our breath away every time we visit this beautiful space. With panoramic hinterland and ocean views, onsite accommodation, and a friendly and passionate wedding team, this venue has everything you need to create a truly amazing day.
We recently spoke to the Summegrove Estate team to learn more about their incredible venue – and some exciting new developments happening just around the corner.
WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE DESIGN OF SUMMERGROVE ESTATE?
Summergrove is a breathtakingly beautiful and lush acreage property with stunning ocean views. The original design of the property was inspired by the Tuscan countryside, known for its beautiful landscape, green rolling hills, olive groves and vineyards.
The demand for weddings has been way beyond our expectations and all of the improvements to the property have been twofold, one for our beautiful Summergrove celebrations from private beauty room, romantic villas, stunning garden ceremony space, outdoor reception area and new ocean view chapel and also to expand the current produce growing on the property which currently include grapes, olives, macadamia nuts, coffee, mangoes, lemons and limes with the lush paddocks now earmarked for livestock.
The new chapel was designed with the landscape in mind, traditional white and nestled beautifully into the hillside of grape vines with its large picture window to capture the postcard view.
WHAT SETS YOUR VENUE APART FROM OTHERS?
There are many amazing aspects to Summergrove –
- Stunning ocean and hinterland views from Surfers Paradise and Stradbroke Island to the north, Tweed and Kingscliff to the East, Cabarita to the South and Mt Warning to the West.
- The feeling of being a million miles away whilst being conveniently located just 15km from Coolangatta airport to provide ease of transport by car, bus and taxis to many accommodation options for guests, making Summergrove popular for destination weddings.
- Exclusive use packages.
- The wealth of facilities, inclusions and options from private beauty room, onsite romantic villas all with double spa baths, king size bedrooms and log fires, outdoor and indoor reception areas, garden ceremony location (with wet weather back up option), acreage for infinite photo opportunities including giant fig trees, fully licensed restaurant – air conditioned and with large log fire, creative and flexible menus from our Head Chef, lighting options, approval to have fireworks onsite, ample parking, friendly team and dedicated wedding coordinator.
- The amazing new ocean view chapel opening next month – traditional white chapel with rosewood doors, sandstone entrance, rich Australian timber floorboards, chandelier, traditional pews and glass fronted to take in the spectacular views. Summergrove chapel has a capacity for 130, audio system and is fully air conditioned.
what has been your most memorable moment so far from a summergrove estate wedding?
It is so exciting and such an honour to host a couple’s wedding day and there have been so many great memories from beautiful family moments, to amazing styling and flowers, to special gifts and surprises between the brides and grooms such as the arrival of baby goats, beautiful vows and speeches that have caused us to shed a tear, grand arrivals and spectacular fireworks displays, rain clearing for an outdoor ceremony and the rainbows that follow, large weddings that have been arranged in six weeks to intimate elopements.
The visits from couples, family and friends after the wedding day for a villa stay or restaurant meal and the wonderful time we all have working as part of a great team and with our fantastic network of suppliers. We love helping to create beautiful memories!
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR BEST WORDS OF ADVICE TO ENGAGED COUPLES TRYING TO CHOOSE A WEDDING VENUE?
Consider wet weather options and enjoy whatever the weather decides to bring on your day. Spectacular photos are produced from rainy days with romantic misty clouds and rainbows!
Check that your chosen wedding venue has Council approval. If a property is closed down, it can be a very traumatic experience for any booked couples where plans are thrown in to disarray, limited availability exists for other venues, guests travel plans are left up in the air and there is a risk of forfeiting deposits with various suppliers.
Book a stylist or ask family and friends to help with your styling – they will love that they can be involved and it will allow you more time to relax and be pampered before your wedding. We love how our brides, bridesmaids, flower girls and mums enjoy their time together in Summergrove’s beauty room knowing that everything is taken care of!
