Food, drink, friends and good conversation – a simple combination of ingredients to create the perfect affair. With the way of the world at the moment, intimate events are going to be the “thing” of 2020. They are more unique than a party-party and are a wonderful way to create memories with your nearest and dearest. Do you have a birthday, anniversary, recently engaged or just want to catch up with all of your closest friends when coming out of isolation? If so, keep reading to find out some helpful tips.

The Guest List:

Firstly, brainstorm your guest list! Keeping in mind current restrictions and guidelines in your state. Consider the space you have and how everyone will interact with each other. Once you know who you want to invite send out your invitations!

Invitations let your guests know you’re planning something special. Not only does it provide all the information they need, it helps them know this is different to a regular dinner party. Get a little fancy and creative making your invitations fun by jumping onto Canva to create the perfect invite for your soiree.

Remember your guest will most likely want to bring something, to contribute or to say thank you. This detail can be included on your invitations too and be specific if you’re creating a certain meal or theme. For example, “Wine always welcome!”

Set the ambience:

Pick your style/ theme of the party and then decorate accordingly! Think about where you will be hosting your event, where do you have the space. Will it be in the dining room? A picnic in the back yard, or a setting on your veranda overlooking some stunning views? Your tablescape is more than just a place for food to be served, it creates the scenery and theatre of your dinner.

With Winter now on our doorstep we love the idea of keeping it cosy and warm. Light up the fireplace and throw some colour into your table setting! Our Dark Plum linen napkins create a beautiful rich, deep tone to your tablescape. Use our decorative glassware to add a special extra touch.

Very importantly, make sure you have enough space and seating for your dinner party. We recommend our beautiful Feasting Tables which allow you plenty of space for all the food, styling and a cheeky cocktail or two! Pair it with the perfect dining chair, keeping in mind the comfort of your guests as well as the theming of your party! Add the finishing touches to your table with a charger plate, cutlery, linen napkins and some special glassware! This will be the perfect finishing touch wowing your guests when they see the beautiful space you have created.

Prepare, prepare, prepare!

One tip we highly recommend is to prepare in advance! Make sure you have a timeline of when you need to get things done to achieve the perfect dinner party. A list of dates to keep in mind:

–       Invitations

–       RSVP date

–       Decide on your theme and what is needed. Serving dishes, décor, a little magic – make a list.

–       Plan your menu and beverage selections (Will you order in or cook up a feast?)

–       Confirm your order for any furniture & décor.

–       Order your food and beverages.

–       Create a playlist.

Once you start finalising guest numbers and have chosen a theme, you can do the finishing touches on the planning of your party making sure you have enough food and drinks to cater to your guest list. Be sure to lock in any suppliers for furniture, catering and flowers with enough time.
