So, you’ve planned your dream wedding right down to the last detail – but have you considered a wet weather forecast?

Although rain on your wedding day is actually seen as a symbol of good luck, it can also lead to some last-minute stress! With this in mind, it’s important to have a solid Plan B in place, and communicate openly with your vendors to find the best outcome for rain, hail or shine.

With La Nina now forecasted for the spring and summer season, we wanted to share our tips for dealing with rain on your wedding day. Keep reading as we share exactly how to prevent a wet weather forecast from dampening your celebration!

Choose Your Wedding Venue Wisely

If you’re worried about rain on your wedding day, we’d suggest keeping this in mind when choosing your wedding venue. While outdoor weddings are absolutely beautiful, they can be a lot harder to navigate with a wet weather forecast.

The good news? There are plenty of venues that offer both indoor and outdoor spaces, so you can be flexible depending on the weather. Need some indoor venue suggestions? Get in touch with our team and we can share our trusted recommendations.

Create a Solid Back-Up Plan

As much as you might be dreaming about blue skies on your wedding day, the weather is sadly unpredictable! To avoid any last-minute stress, it’s so important to have a back-up plan that can be easily implemented on the day.

First, chat with your venue about the different options they have available for wet weather. If no undercover spaces are available, you may need to consider tentatively booking a marquee or tent. If your ceremony is the only thing taking place outside, you may be able to find a back-up venue like a hall or chapel to host this portion of your day.

If you’re working with a wedding planner, they’ll be able to navigate all of this for you, giving you peace of mind while relieving a whole lot of stress!

Communicate With Your Vendor Team

If rain is forecasted for your wedding day, you’ll need to touch base with all of your wedding vendors to confirm your Plan B. Make sure everyone is aware of the back-up plan, and knows who will be the best point of contact on the day. You can also create a wet weather version of your run sheet, and send this out to all vendors in the week leading up to your wedding.

Be sure to set a deadline for when you need to make the final call, and let your vendors know as soon as a decision has been made. Again, working with a wedding planner can make this much easier as they’ll be able to communicate with your vendor team on your behalf.

Consider a Clear Marquee

Garden weddings are always beautiful, but for peace of mind, consider booking a clear marquee from the very beginning. A clear marquee will still allow those dreamy views to filter through, so you’ll still feel like your wedding is being hosted outdoors – just with some additional protection!

Bring The Outdoors In

If you need to move your wedding indoors at the last minute, don’t stress – you can still make it feel just as magical! Everything you had planned for outside including your flower arrangements, furniture and other decorations can be recreated inside.

Your vendors will be able to work their magic to make your indoor space feel incredibly special. Organising some extra candles and lighting can also go a long way with transforming an indoor venue.
