There is nothing better than a fun and creative brief to work with, and this event was no exception! Working alongside the team at Little Gray Station, we were recently lucky enough to be involved in the 2016 Queensland Literacy Awards held at the iconic State Library in Brisbane.
Our brief for the event: fresh and tropical with lots of natural textures and organic features. We paired our white bamboo summer lounges with fun printed cushions and textiles to create a Bahamas inspired setting. Our hairpin leg coffee tables and silver drum accents helped give the setting a modern twist, and we couldn’t resist including some clam shells filled with pineapples to complete the look. It was also the perfect opportunity for us to show off our new A-Frame shelving which we filled with tropical plants and coconuts to create a unique feature backdrop – super simple but a great statement piece which tied the whole theme together.
We were really humbled to be part of such an amazing event at this iconic Brisbane venue, celebrating some incredible Australian writers and the talent we have in this country – check out some of our favourite snaps below along with our styling tips on how to recreate this look!
STYLING TIPS!
- The key to creating a tropical look like this one while still keeping things fresh and clean is to start with a neutral colour as the base of your design (like white) and then build on this with bold colours + patterns through decor and textiles
- Using fresh fruit and potted plants is a super easy and effective way to dress the space if you don’t have the budget for floral arrangements. Pineapples and coconuts work perfectly!!
- Metallic tones can give this look a touch of glam, so think about incorporating gold or silver elements to add some extra detail.
