Bringing corporate events to life through creative design is something we’re passionate about here at Hampton Event Hire.

During the recent Melbourne Cup festivities at the Brisbane Racing Club, we were lucky enough to deck out the Pimm’s “Birdcage Marquee”, with our team tailoring a furniture hire solution to create a vibrant, comfortable and modern activation.

Keep reading as we take you behind-the-scenes of the Birdcage Marquee and show you exactly how we brought this colourful concept to life using some of our favourite new furniture hire collections!

Our brief from the client was to curate an eclectic mix of furniture pieces to create a premium event space, highlighting Pimm’s as the major sponsor with a strong focus on their brand colours and identity. We were tasked with creating a bright, light-hearted space for 250 pax, without compromising on style or elegance.

Keeping the vibrant Pimm’s branding in mind throughout our design, we worked with a statement colour palette of bold reds complemented with a selection of burnt oranges, dusty pinks, mustard yellows and crisp whites to create a bright, colourful setting. Our new Indie lounges in dusty rose and rust along with our Dune gazebos and Dune lounges worked beautifully to introduce some earthy, natural textures, as we created statement sofa areas framed by our timber gazebos.

Outside the marquee, our white wire structures were adorned with bright tropical blooms and custom signage to create a statement entrance for guests. To create a more elegant and luxe feel, we also included our hairpin dry bars and round timber dry bars paired with sleek wire stools, contrasting against rattan basket lights hanging overhead.

With the bar being the hub of activity for the event, we created an eye-catching focal feature using 8m of custom-built white timber service bars, complete with Pimm’s branding and a 3-dimensional floral backdrop. Our white drinks cart was also customised for the event with statement red stripes to reinforce the Pimm’s brand.

We couldn’t be happier with the end result of this event activation – see more beautiful images captured by Lyndal Carmichael Photography below, along with our top furniture picks to recreate this look. A huge thanks to the Brisbane Racing Club for having us on board!
