We love featuring creative wedding styling ideas on our blog – and in preparation for our upcoming Warehouse Open Day, we wanted to share a new style guide inspired by one of our favourite current looks: Moody Pastels.

This striking look is perfect for couples wanting to incorporate soft pastel tones throughout their wedding styling in a more modern and contemporary way, drawing inspiration from our recent set-up with Florals & Co at Ancora for the Tweed Wedding Trail.

Featuring a bold colour palette, industrial glam details and metallic accents, our moody pastel style guide works well in blank canvas venues, marquee receptions and open warehouse spaces.

Keep reading for our top tips on bringing this beautiful look to life through colour choices, furniture and decor, floral design and finer details!

MOODY PASTELS: COLOUR PALETTE

A moody pastel colour palette is all about contrast – you’ll want to pair soft, romantic shades like blush pink and berry tones with darker accents like burgundy, plum and even black. It’s important to ensure your colour palette is evenly distributed to avoid overpowering the space – so try to use a 50:50 ratio of light and shade.

Metallic accents can also be used to add a luxe feel into the setting, with gold, bronze and copper tones all pairing perfectly with this look. Natural shades and textures like timber and rattan will help to provide some warmth and earthiness, too.

MOODY PASTELS: FURNITURE AND DECOR

Modern and contemporary furniture and decor pieces with industrial influences are ideal choices to bring this look to life. You’ll also want to use these furnishings to add colour, texture and detail into your styling.

For a sit-down reception, we love earthy timber tables contrasted with white or gold wire chairs for a sleek and sophisticated look. Rattan charger plates, gold cutlery, crystal glassware and blush linen napkins all work perfectly to create a modern pastel tablescape filled with gorgeous details.

Luxe, opulent cocktail pieces will help you to create a contemporary stand-up setting, so consider choosing furniture in statement finishes like marble, velvet and wire. Don’t be afraid to play with colour – for example, our blush velvet sofas work beautifully with our magenta ottomans for a bold contrast.

MOODY PASTELS: FLORAL DESIGN

When it comes to a moody pastel wedding, floral design will play a key role in achieving this look. We love bold, striking floral arrangements with a mix of both soft pastels, rich jewel tones, and darker foliage.

Long stemmed roses, trailing orchids and pink anthuriums are a few of our favourite blooms to create unstructured, wild arrangements that make a statement, especially with the addition of gold vessels. A hint of greenery can also work well, but deep, muted foliage work best – let your florals do the talking!

MOODY PASTELS: FINER DETAILS

With so much happening in your floral arrangements and colour palette, try to keep your finer details simple and refined – the less complicated, the better! Consider opting for a minimal black and white stationery suite with elegant calligraphy, a delicately dressed cake, or linen drum pendant lights to tie the look together in a cohesive way.
