This vibrant and flower-filled Byron Bay wedding was described by sweet couple Ali + Sam as everything they had ever dreamed of – and it’s easy to see why!
Bright bursts of Spring colours, rose gold accents, and fuchsia blooms all came together to create this beautiful garden inspired wedding at Verandahs Byron Bay. Full of unique and personal details like the love-quote adorned ceremony backdrop and a Moscow Mule cocktail station complete with copper mugs, this lively wedding was a dream to be a part of, styled by the team at Little Gray Station.
The key to a cocktail style wedding is to incorporate a thoughtful mix of seating options and we have to say, these guys nailed it with their colourful and comfortable set-up. Our white hairpin dry bars and bentwood stools paired perfectly with our French style lounges and colourful cushions in the Verandahs garden. Picnic-style areas were also scattered around the space using our hairpin coffee tables and patterned rugs.

From the bride….
What was your experience like planning your wedding? It was a long two year process. It has its moments of stress but overall it was a really interesting and exciting experience to be so involved in planning all the details and allowing for our wants and needs.
Where did you find your inspiration for your wedding day? The movie “My Fair Lady” ( the races scene) and many, many Martha Stewart Wedding magazines.
What was the feel and style of your wedding? Garden party with a relaxed atmosphere. We really just wanted a beautiful fun party for a wedding rather than a sit down formal occasion. Let’s be honest, we really didn’t want the chicken and steak alternate drop!
Where was your wedding venue and why did you choose them? Verandahs House in Byron Bay. We chose this venue because it just takes your breath away when you arrive, but still has an amazing homely feeling.
What were the highlights on the day? The relaxed, calm and happy atmosphere that seemed to radiate around the venue. I also loved seeing my vision come together when Judi started setting up on the day.
Who was your florist and why did you choose them? Elyssium Blooms – our stylists Little Gray Station recommended her. I’m glad she did because the flowers really made our wedding so vibrant and colourful.
How did you manage your budget? We had a very detailed excel spreadsheet and I tracked all the money coming in and then going out.
Do you have any tips for other brides? Make sure you set your budget before you even start to plan. We had a long engagement which allowed for us to save the money for the wedding ourselves. Also set up a separate wedding account to transfer fortnightly payments into. Be decisive because it is a long process of decision making. Get used to feeling stressed at times, but champagne and a bath helps that. Remember to ignore other peoples ideas and stick to what you want. Trust your gut, you don’t want to look back on photos and have thoughts of regret.
