1. Choose a Blank Canvas Wedding Venue
The first step in creating a modern bohemian wedding is choosing a “blank canvas” style venue that will allow you to get creative with your styling! Think natural surroundings, open-air lawns and sprawling gardens with plenty of lush greenery. Unique structures like tents, tipis and marquees can also be perfect options for a modern bohemian wedding. Check out some of our favourite blank canvas wedding venues on the Gold Coast, Tweed Coast, Brisbane & Byron Bay here for more inspiration!

2. INCORPORATE EARTHY COLOURS & NATURAL TEXTURES
Earthy colours and natural textures will be your go-to styling elements for a modern bohemian look. Use a neutral base of timbers and rattans, complemented with warm, earthy shades of terracotta, dusty pink, burnt orange, sage and soft pastels. For a bolder look, consider injecting a pop of rich, jewel-toned colour like emerald, navy or marsala. Then, tie your palette together with statement metallics like gold, bronze, copper or silver.

3. Mix and Match your Decor
Modern bohemian wedding styling is all about getting eclectic and creative with your furniture and decor. You don’t want things to feel “matchy matchy” – instead, mix up your decor choices and don’t be afraid to play with unexpected furniture combinations. Play around with different materials like timber, rattan, velvet, wire and marble. For example, pair a linen lounge with a metallic coffee table and patterned textiles, pair a rattan lounge with velvet ottomans, or use a mix of bench seats and dining chairs for guest seating. Just be sure to use a similar colour palette throughout your styling to ensure the look remains eclectic but cohesive! Our Indie collection, Velvet collection, Hamptons collection and range of textiles are all perfect options for boho-inspired furniture and decor.

4. Create Layered Tablescapes
If you’re planning a sit-down wedding reception, be sure to incorporate various layers and mixed materials into your tablescapes, too. Layer your tables with flowing fabrics, linen napkins, textured charger plates, eclectic crockery, statement cutlery and decorative glassware for a modern bohemian look. When it comes to centrepieces, candles and florals, use varying heights to add interest and depth. Find our top table styling tips here!

5. Go Bold with Blooms and Lighting
To complete your modern bohemian setting, go bold with loose, unstructured and untraditional floral arrangements filled with varying texture and density. We love dried foliage, unexpected pops of colour, earthy natives and autumnal tones for bohemian-inspired blooms. And don’t forget some statement lighting – an eclectic mix of textural pendants, basket lights, scattered lanterns or colourful neons will help you create a warm and intimate vibe for the night!
